We are an insurance company formed in May 2014 with an aim to provide innovative and competitive insurance products to customers in the UK.
The company is registered in Guernsey which is a self-governing British Crown dependency, and forms part of the Channel Islands.
Guernsey has an established financial market which is overseen and regulated by the Guernsey Financial Service Commission (www.gfsc.gg) under company number 2257613 and we are regulated by them under the Insurance Business Rules and Guidance 2021 in accordance with the Insurance Business Law 2002.
To help us manage the business we use the experienced insurance manager SRS Management Guernsey Ltd in Guernsey.
Our business is well capitalised and we always exceed the minimum capital requirements set by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission.
As Guernsey is a self-governing British Crown dependency sovereign the insurance businesses are regulated by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission. As such we cannot be party to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) in the UK.

If you wish to make a complaint about one of our policies or how we have handled your claim, then please contact us at compliance@universalig.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 48-hours and aim to deal with customer complaints quickly and fairly. All complaints are investigated fully and we will ensure that a final response is issued no later than 6 weeks after the complaint has been acknowledged by us. If you are not satisfied with our final response to your complaint, you can refer your complaint within 6 months from the date of our final response to the Channel Islands Financial Ombudsman (“CIFO”).
